It has a code of life that helps the Muslims to spend the life according to the principles of Islam and to be successful in the hereafter.
The last prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said,
"The best among you is the one who learnt Quran and taught it to others."
Therefore, in the eyes of our beloved prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) too, being a Quran tutor is like being among the best of the Muslim lot.
Of course, the Muslims are free to adopt any type of career line for themselves. In fact, studying in different disciplines and making careers accordingly is highly encouraged in Islam. This is because Allah Almighty wants the Muslims to excel in the world, make morally strong societies and to make the world a better place to live. Our prophet (s.a.w) was a great educationist and a strong advocate of learning different subjects and philosophies. He used to encourage his disciples to seek all types of knowledge. However, for any Muslim who learns Quran, being a Quran tutor is one of the opportunities that can transform his or her life and can ensure success in the hereafter too.
In the religion of Islam, it is the duty of the parents to arrange a competent Quran tutor for their children. Finding a Quran tutor is a task that the parents must take very seriously.
The Quran tutor must possess a set of qualities, the most significant of which are listed below.
- The Quran tutor must possess excellent Quran recitation skills
In the Muslim world, the Quran recitation is the first thing, usually the parents want their children to learn. Therefore, the Quran teacher must possess excellent recitation skills. The parents should know that there are different styles of Quran recitation. The teacher must specialize in at least one style.
- The Quran tutor should preferably be a Hafiz
Often according to the interest and consent of the child, the Muslim parents initiate the Quran memorizing (Hifz) for their children. Memorizing the Quran has a great reward in the hereafter. Therefore, it is always preferable if the Quran tutor for the children is also a hafiz.
- The Quran tutor must be trained in the technical and psychological aspects of teaching children and/or adults
Teaching children and teaching adults are two different jobs. The techniques, styles, and psychological aspects of both are different. The Quran teacher must know the difference of these two styles of teaching. Moreover, he or she must be expert of at least one style.
- The Quran tutor should realize the sanctity of his or her profession
